Adding Text Content Blocks in Squarespace: A Step-by-Step Guide
Learn how to add and customize text content blocks in Squarespace with ease.
Navigate to Your Page
Go to the menu on the left and click on “Website.”
Click on “Pages” and find the page where you want to add your block.
Click on that page and press “Edit” in the top left corner.
Add a Section
Hover over the gaps between each section.
Click on “Add Section” either above or below the current section.
Choose to add a blank section or one of the pre-existing templates. For simplicity, go with a blank section.
Add a Text Block
Click on the button in the top left corner to add your first block.
Choose “Text” from the menu.
Use placeholder text if needed. You can move the text block by clicking, holding, and dragging it within the content frame.
Customize Your Layout
Use the 24-column grid to break your content down into multiple sections.
For example, you can have a content block on the left and right, each spanning 12 columns.
Adjust the spacing between text blocks using the section editor.
Edit Text
Add text all in one block or use multiple blocks for more control over spacing.
Rename sections as needed, such as changing a subheading to a heading two.
Adjust content alignment and customize the gap between heading blocks and paragraph content blocks.
Additional Text Editing Features
Use bold, italic, and color change options sparingly.
Change heading styles and use paragraph breaks (Enter) and line breaks (Shift + Enter) appropriately.
Add underline effects, links, and adjust text alignment.
Use the quote option for highlighted sections and bullet points or numbered lists for organized content.
Paste as plain text to strip out unwanted formatting from third-party sources.
Mobile View
Switch to mobile view to ensure everything looks good.
Adjust gaps between blocks and reduce the height of text blocks as needed.
