Elwyn Davies, the founder and Education Lead at Pixelhaze Academy, has made an incredible journey from web design to becoming an esteemed Udemy instructor. Today’s post gives you a glimpse of his story, delving into his transition and milestones achieved over the years.
From Web Design to Educating
Four years ago, Elwyn embarked on his journey as an instructor, leveraging his vast experience from running a rapidly growing digital media agency. Little did he know, his first course, The Web Design Masterclass, would turn out to be a stepping stone towards an exciting teaching career.
“I remember publishing my first course on Udemy and thinking that I would be lucky to get 10 students to sign up! Learning how to repackage the library information, tips, and guidance from 15 years of running a fast-growth digital media agency proved to be an enticing challenge.”
Fast forward to today, Elwyn has successfully crafted 15 Udemy Courses, reaching over 30,000 students. His teaching journey has not only been about numbers but also about the child-like fun of sharing knowledge and watching students develop their skill sets.
In addition to Udemy, Elwyn's educational content has also found a home on YouTube via our Pixelhaze Channel, where he continues to grow his following.
New Courses
In the past six months, seven new courses were introduced on leading technologies, including AI applications, Squarespace, Hostinger, and Adobe Photoshop, exemplifying his commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements.
Collaboration with Skillshare
We are also delighted to announce that Elwyn has been appointed as an instructor on Skillshare - another leading online education platform, with 2-3 courses due to be rolled out before the end of 2023.
Flagship Programme
Despite his success as an Udemy instructor, Elwyn continues to evolve, exploring new avenues and striving for further growth, as a result, Pixelhaze Academy has recently launched a flagship 6-week course, Moonshot: Become A Web Designer, dedicated to those looking to start, build, or enhance a career in web design.
Leadership Transition at Pixelhaze
Don't Panic! is our motto kindly stolen from the king of science fiction comedy, Douglas Adams, and it is rather suitable for this scenario. We are far from packing up shop as a Web Design Agency for rural areas.
The studio is still going from strength to strength, with Will Hammond and Kenneth Rees becoming Directors in the company and taking the lead on our project and support plans. We have a range of exciting new services as we aim to lead the way with delivering premium low-cost web design and marketing services by harnessing the latest of what AI has to offer.

For those unfamiliar, Udemy is an online learning platform featuring a vast array of courses on a multitude of subjects. It serves as a platform for experts to share their knowledge and for students to learn from these experts at their own pace.
This journey from a web designer to an Udemy instructor has been that cliché: a long and winding road, but we are yet to reach our destination.
